Thereafter, the cells were incubated with oestradiol-17 beta (E2), cortisol (F) and progesterone (P), and the tritiated steroids were measured in the culture medium by high-pressure liquid chromatography. Damage to the granulosa cells was induced by exposing the cultures to visible light. The cells were incubated either with the steroidogenic inhibitor actinomycin D or with the phosphodiesterase inhibitor (PDE) 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX) or with both.
